This will be the first-ever meeting between the teams. Not only that but neither has ever played a team from the opposing country either.

Palmeiras are 11 games into the Brazil Serie A season and are sitting 4th at 7-1-3, scoring 12 goals and conceding just 8. With 22 points they’re only 2 back of 1st placed Flamengo.
Last year they were runners-up to Botafogo.
In this year’s Copa Libertadores they cruised through the Group Stage at 6-0-0 scoring 17 and allowing only 4 goals to top their group. Now in the Round of 16, they’re set to meet Universitario in mid-August.
In the current season across all comps, Palmeiras has lost just 3 of 17 matches but 2 of those have come in their past 3. Only once in their past 8 have they failed to score and that came vs Brazil’s top team Flamengo who have only allowed 4 goals.
There are several players to look out for on Palmeiras, but maybe none will get talked about more than 17-year-old Estevao William who is set to depart for Chelsea. He has 4G/1A during the Libertadores tournament so far. He had 24 goal contributions in Brazil last year.
Porto Preview
It wasn’t a great year for Porto in Portugal. They finished 3rd at 22-5-7, scoring 65 and allowing just 30, just below a goal-per-game allowed. But with 71 points, they were 9 back of 2nd-placed Benfica and 11 back of 1st-placed Sporting.
It was a rare non-top-2 finish in back-to-back years, something Porto hadn’t done since the 70s.
Tournament-wise, Porto claimed the Super Cup to start last season, but could only reach the 4th round of the Taca de Portugal and semis of the League Cup.
Porto did end the season in good from winning 3-1, 2-1 and 3-0 while also winning 5 of their final 6 matches. Only once in their final 9 matches did they not score.
Palmeiras vs Porto Prediction
You may think on paper this is lop-sided affair but the odds alone say this could be closer than you think with Palmeiras actually slightly favored.
We already talked about the teenage sensation on Palmeiras, but certainly when it comes to player props you can consider Samu and Mora from Porto who had 19 and 10 goals respectively in the Liga last season. Mora had 7 goals in his final 9 games. In the Porto’s final 3 wins, Samu went 3/1, 5/3 and 2/1 in attempts and shots on target.
I’d lean to a Palmeiras win. But certainly a draw or BTTS (-110) look like good options.
For shot props, you simply have to line shop. Samu to have 1+ shot on target at Caesars is -380. At Bet365 it’s -275. At DraftKings it’s -190. None of those prices are good on their own, but certainly the DK price is good for a parlay leg.
