Just 4 games will take place this weekend during the international break with this 3 on Saturday and 1 on Sunday. Let’s touch on all 4 and then make our best MLS predictions for this weekend.
Saturday, September 6
St. Louis City SC vs FC Dallas Prediction
- Dallas won 3-0 at home in July and home teams have never lost in the 6 all-time meetings
- St. Louis is not going to make the playoffs, but Dallas still has a shot
- It was a 3rd straight 3-2 loss for St. Louis last week and their 9th in 12 games
- Their recent scorelines have been 3-2, 3-2, 3-2, 3-1, 2-1, 3-0, 2-1 and 3-2 – So goals are flying at both ends
- Joao Klauss leads the team in goals and has 1+ shot on target in 8 straight and 12/13
- Dallas aren’t winning much themselves with 2 wins in 10, but they are undefeated in 3 after a 2-0 win and back to back 1-1 draws. They’ve scored in 10/11 but have also conceded in 9/11. They’ll be fresh having been off last weekend but have won just 1 of their past 7 road MLS games
PICK:
- Both teams are relatively unscathed from the international break so I think we can bet this normally.
- BTTS and Klauss to have a shot on target or the BTTS & Over 2.5 could be options
- MLS Picks Today: Both to Score

Chicago Fire vs New England Revolution Prediction
- The Fire won 3-1 in New England this season, but oddly, 6/8 past meetings have been draws. The BTTS is 5-1 and 11-2. NE has at least a point 6 straight trips to Chicago
- These teams are side by side in the table, but Chicago has 39 points to New England’s 31. The Fire are also only 1 point back of the play-in game, a point behind the Red Bulls with 2 games in hand
- After 5 games without a loss and 9 games finding the back of the net, Chicago put up a dud last game losing 4-0 to Philly. But that was back on August 23 so they should be rested and regrouped
- While Chicago had scored 10 goals in their 5 games prior, they also have only 2 clean sheets in 18 games
- Only 3 East teams have scored 50+ goals and Chicago are one of them, but they’ve allowed the 4th most as well (48)
- New England has alternated wins and losses in their past 4, last losing to Charlotte 2-1 last week. It’s now just 2 wins in 13 and 3 in 19
- Revs’ games also typically see some goals. The BTTS is 9-3 of late. The only teams they’ve shut out in that time are DC and Austin
PICK:
- The Revs aren’t bad on the road at 5-5-4, meanwhile Chicago has one of the weaker home records at 4-5-4.
- The Revs are more affected from call-ups missing CB Fofana and 2nd-leading scorer, forward Campana
- BTTS, Chicago to win or Chicago over 1.5 are all options
- MLS Picks Today: Chicago to win
Houston Dynamo vs LA Galaxy Prediction
- They drew 1-1 in LA way back in April and last yesr both won at home, and both by 2-1 scores
- Houston also has a poor home record at 4-2-8, one of the worst.
- They’re only 3 points back of 9th place San Jose so still have a shot at the playoffs, but … they have just 1 win 10. But … that win came last game beating St. Louis 3-2.
- However, it extended a streak of games to 11 straight in MLS (and worse when you count Leagues Cup), where the Dynamo have conceded.
- They’ll face another team that can’t keep the ball out of their next in the LA Galaxy.
- LA’s MLS season is toast, but by beating Orlando 2-1 in the Leagues Cup 3rd Place Game they’ve salvaged something getting a spot in CCC.
- LA are 8-3-6 in their last 17 and in all comps they’ve scored in 17/21 and scored multiple goals in 8/13. But defensively, they’ve conceded in 29/33 overall games this season.
- In their last 14 games, the only team they’ve not scored on is Seattle (twice).
PICK:
- There is some offense missing from both sides with Houston’s 2nd leading scorer McGlynn with USA and one of LA’s 2nd-leading scorers Paintsil with Ghana
- But these team are so bad defensively we should still see goals, plus LA is STILL, the only team yet to win on the road
- MLS Picks Today: Both to Score

Sunday, September 7
Sporting KC vs Austin FC Prediction
- Way back on February 22, Auston won 1-0. Home teams are 8–1-1 in the 10 all-time meetings and have won 6 straight
- It’s unlikely SKC makes the playoffs, but Austin are 7th and battling to stay above of 8th and 9th
- I’m starting to sound like a bit of a broken record, but SKC is another team that sees goals flying in at both ends of the pitch. Last week they finally won. Their first win in 6 games, by a 4-2 score. Jovelic had 5 shots on target and 2 goals.
- Their past 2 games were losses of 5-2 and 3-1
- SKC haven’t kept a clean sheet in 14 games, but the BTTS is 12-2 so they usually score
- Austin are more reliable … but not by much. They have only 6 wins in 18 games. But they have only 1 loss in 1 loss in 8 and 2 losses in 11. They were winless in 3, but then won 3-1 last week over San Jose.
- Their 6 games?
- 3-1 win, 3-2 loss, 1-1 draw, 2-2 draw, 4-2 win, 2-1 win
- The Verde are missing some key pieces though. Among them top two scorers Vazquez (inj) and Uzuni (intl). Key midfielder Pereira is also off on international duty.
PICK:
- SKC were relatively spared from major call-ups, while Austin is missing 6 players
- I don’t trust SKC but they are at home on SNS. AUS are handicapped by rarely lose lately.
- There is some good value on SKC to win at +150
- MLS Picks Today: SKC to score
- Parlay Picks: STL vs DAL btts / HOU vs LA btts / SKC to score (+175)
