There’s more MLS this weekend and after a full midweek slate, we’re back at it for MLS Matchday 15 this weekend with 14 games, all on Saturday and continuing MLS Rivalry Week. LAFC are the one team off, while SKC, New England and Dallas didn’t play Wednesday. Let’s get into this rounds MLS predictions for Matchday 15.
Inter Miami vs DC United Prediction
Miami were without Messi on Wednesday and drew Orlando 0-0. It was just the 2nd time they failed to score a goal this season. It was just the 3rd time they kept a clean sheet and the first time in 14 games.
I see both of those trends reverting to the dorm Saturday vs DC. DC lost 4-1 Wednesday and previous scores for them have been 3-2 win, 2-2 draw, 2-1 win, 2-0 loss, 3-2 win and 1-1 draw. So goals have been going in at both ends for DC.
Christian Benteke was held off the scoresheet versus the Red Bulls but he’s tied for the Golden Boot lead with this weekend’s opponent Luis Suarez as well as Chicho Arango (11).
Miami won 3-1 in DC earlier this season already. Last year they drew 2-2 and DC won 2-1. Before that it was 3-2 Miami and 2-2.
That’s a lot of games with 3+ goals which is how I’ll bet here. Not knowing the status of Messi makes this MLS prediction tough. With him, I expect a Miami win. But Miami often conceded and going up against Benteke, they likely will again. But I also think DC is too reliant on Benteke, and if, it’s a big if, Miami contain him and Messi plays, they could blow DC away. So I’ll just go over 2.5 goals.
- MLS Predictions: Over 2.5

New England Revolution vs Philadelphia Union Prediction
The Union are in some of their worst form in some time, losing 2-1 at home to NYCFC, their 4th straight home defeat and 6th straight without a win.
Yet all of those 7 games, plus an 8th, (2-1 win) have seen BTTS & Over 2.5.
In 16 games in all comps, Philly has scored in 14, but have also conceded in 14. A BTTS bet has gone 13-3.
The Rev are at the bottom of the pile, 29th, with just 7 points and only 9 goals scored (the fewest). They were off on Wednesdsay, so could be fresher, but lost 4-2 last weekend. At least they’ve now gotten on the scoresheet in 3 straight games.
Last year they met 4 times, with Philly winning 3/4 by scores of 3-0, 3-1 and 1-0, and New England winning the other 2-1.
- MLS Predictions: Over 1.5
FC Cincinnati vs St Louis City SC Prediction
Cincinnati are slowly coming into form and now with 27 points, are only behind Miami with 28 for the Supporters’ Shield lead. Cincy beat Altanta 1-0 on Wednesday and have won 5 straight by other scores of 2-1, 1-0, 2-1 and 2-1. New striker Kevin Kelsey did leave injured though, though he and Miles Robinson are supposed to be good to go from what I’ve read.
The 16 goals scored is nothing too exciting, but the 10 allowed is tops in the league.
St. Louis lost 1-0 at home on Wednesday to LAFC, but did miss a PK, had a goal called back, took a red card and had another play that looked like a handball not reviewed. They draw a lot — 6 draws in 10, but have just 2 wins in 10 and both were at home, they’re on the road here where they have just 1 win in 15 road games in all comps and where they’ve conceded in 14/15.
For this parlay, a Cincinnati double chance or to score a goal works for me. Cincy has now scored in 11 straight.
- MLS Predictions: Cincinnati to score
- Parlay Picks: MIA vs DC over 2.5 / NE vs PHI over 1.5 / CIN score (-107)
Minnesota United vs Portland Timbers Prediction
Minnesota went up 1-0, down 2-1 and drew late with LA Galaxy 2-2 on Wednesday. They’re undefeated in 4 and have scored in multiple goals in 5 straight, while scoring at least once in all but 1 game this season. But … they’ve not always been tight defensively, allowing a goal in 9/11.
Portland went down 2-0 to San Jose before scoring in the 74’ 80’, 90’ and 100’ minutes to win 4-2. Brian Rodriguez came off the bench and had 2 goals.
That lifts Portland out of the West basement to 11th. It snaps a run of no wins in 9 games for Phil Neville’s team, but extends a dubious streak of allowing multiple goals to 9 games, and conceding at least 1 in 13 (every game). BTTS & Over 2.5 bets have cashed in 11/13.
Minnesota, are tied with 3 other teams on 21 points for 2nd in the West, 4 points back of RSL.
The Loons won 1-0 and 4-1 last year and should win here. The Timbers are always good for BTTS or BTTS & Over 2.5 bets but they were being shut out Wednesday until a late PK and red card to San Jose got them rolling.
- MLS Predictions: Minnesota over 1.5
Chicago Fire vs Columbus Crew Prediction
Only the Revs and Dynamo have scored fewer goals than Chicago’s 12. The offense is non-existent right now for the Fire who lost 1-0 at home to Charlotte on Wednesday and have been shut out in 5/6 games, 0-2-4.
The Crew have only conceded 12 goals themselves, and after navigating a balance between MLS and CCC, they had a run of no wins in 7, but had 5 draws. They were back in the win column Wednesday beating Montreal 3-1. Despite not many wins, the Crew have scored in 9/12 MLS games.
Last year Columbus beat Chicago 2-1 and 3-0 and then this year in MArch, the Crew beat the Fire again 2-1, now making Columbus 5-1-0 vs Chicago in the last 6.
It looks too easy for me to say the Crew win. At some point Chicago has to show some life and the Crew have not been in great form in MLS so far. So Crew double chance or to simply score in this parlay.
- MLS Predictions: Columbus to score
Austin FC vs Sporting Kansas City Prediction
The Verde, Austin, were winless in 5, but now are 5-1-2 in their past 8, and won 1-0 at home to Texas rival Houston on Wednesday.
SKC also suffered defeat to Houston in their last game, 2-1 last weekend. They were off on Wednesday so will at least be rested, but have just 1 win in 7 and that was versus Union Omaha in the USOC and they needed extra-time.
In 13 games in all comps this season, SKC has conceded in 12. They’ve scored in 11. And BTTS is 11-2.
Austin have scored in 6/8 and at Q2 Stadium have won 4 straight, are undefeated in 6, have scored multiple goals in 5/6 and have scored at least 1 in 18 straight in MLS.
Home teams won last year, 4-1 SKC and and 2-1 Austin.
There’s a case for BTTS here, but then Austin has kept clean sheets in 4/5.
- MLS Predictions: Austin to score
- Parlay Picks: MIN over 1.5 / CLB to score / AUS to score (+148)
Real Salt Lake vs Colorado Rapids Prediction
It’s the Rocky Mountain Cup for the 2nd time this season already, with Colorado winning in Sandy, Utah 2-1 on March 9.
RSL beat Seattle 2-0 and Colorado beat Vancouver 1-0 in midweek play.
The Caps did take a red card in 1st half stoppage time resulting in an ensuing PK goal for the Rapids.
RSL is 1st in the West with 25 points, and Colorado has been impressive as well, seeded 4th but tied on 21 points with 3 other teams for 2nd.
RSL is 4-1-1 at home and have scored 10 and only allowed 3. In 14 games in all comps RSL has scored in all but 2, the first week versus Miami and a game versus the champs, Columbus. An take out a USOC loss last week and they are undefeated in 9 games.
Colorado has only lost 2 of 8 themselves and have scored in 12/13 in all games so far and each of their last 8.
We could see at least a couple of goals here again in this rivalry. RSL have put the 5th most shots on target and while Colorado doesn’t generate as many shots, they do have the 2nd most attacking third touches in MLS.
- MLS Predictions: RSL to score
San Jose Earthquakes vs Orlando City Prediction
It’s a cross-conference game between 2 teams that don’t play often and not since 2021, a 5-0 Orlando win.
Back to this season, and Orlando became just the 2nd team this season to keep Miami off the scoresheet, albeit without Messi, in a 0-0 draw on Wednesday. That means it’s just 2 losses in 8 for the Lions.
Orlando has scored in 8/11 but has conceded in 9/11.
the Quakes know all about conceding, they’ve done so in every single MLS games this season, plus multiple goals in 11/13. They gave up 2 multiple goals again on Wednesday. Despite going up 2-0 over Portland, they coughed up that lead and lost 4-0.
The Quakes have though scored 2, 3, 1, 3, 1, and 3 goals in their recent games. As bad as the defense has been, they’ve only been held off the scoresheet twice in all comps and have the 4th best xG in the West.
Per FBRef, San Jose has given up 259 more attacking third touches than anyone in the league, with the Galaxy giving up the 2nd most.
- MLS Predictions: Both teams to score
- Parlay Picks: RSL score / SJ vs ORL btts (-117)
