There’s more MLS this week with Week 27 being played on Wednesday, July 16 with 14 games and 28 teams in action. Only Portland sits out.
It’s the second to last slate of MLS games before the Leagues Cup break. While some teams are slowly getting players back from the Euros and Copas, others will see players depart for the Olympics.
So there are lots of moving pieces to consider this week, among injuries and suspensions as well.
Let’s get into Wednesday’s best MLS predictions here, with three different parlays.
MLS Picks and Parlays #1
Three 7:30 games here for these MLS predictions.
Inter Miami vs Toronto FC Prediction
When we last saw Miami they were getting routed in Cincinnati losing 6-1. That was two games back as they were off this weekend so come into mid-week play well-rested. Messi got injured in Copa America but Luis Suarez could possibly return.
The loss is just their second in 15 and first after 4 straight 2-1 wins.
They’re facing a TFC team who came from behind 1-0 at home to Philly on Saturday to win 2-1. That was their first win after 10 winless.
Both teams play to many BTTS bets. Miami has cashed that bet in 8 straight and Toronto
Miami routed TFC 4-0 in Miami last September while Toronto won 2-0 earlier last season in March. Miami is 6-0-1 vs Toronto in the last 7 though.
This is very likely a Miami win. Or BTTS and Over 2.5. TFC do often score, doing so in 7/9 but scoring 2 versus Philly is the first time they’ve scored multiple goals in 7.
It was also the first time TFC didn’t allow multiple goals in 8.
MLS picks could be a Miami win, Miami to score over 1.5 or BTTS and Over 2.5. For this parlay I’ll bet Miami scoring at least 2 goals themselves.
- MLS Predictions: Miami over 1.5
FC Cincinnati vs Chicago Fire Prediction
It’s 1st vs 14th here in the East.
FCC had a huge an unexpected blowout of Inter Miami two games back winning 6-1. But then had an equally unexpected 3-1 home loss to Charlotte on Saturday.
That’s just their 3rd loss in 15. Lucho Acosta did leave with an ankle injury but it’s said to not be serious, but is worth monitoring for this game. He was not at practice early Tuesday.
On Saturday they got some defensive help back with Miles Robinson back from the Copas, but then he took a late red card vs Charlotte so will be back out here vs the Fire.
The Fire drew 0-0 with NYCFC this weekend and they’re a mixed bag of late being 3-3-3 in their past 9, but have just 1 win in 5.
Cincy already won 2-1 in Chicago in March and they should win again here at home. Chicago has 1 road win in 11 and that was vs a struggling TFC side.
- MLS Predictions: Cincinnati double chance
Columbus Crew vs Charlotte FC Prediction
These two are off big big wins this weekend. Charlotte upset Cincinnati 3-1 in Ohio.
While Columbus beat down LAFC in an MLS Cup rematch winning 5-1.
Charlotte had lost back-to-back games but now have just 3 losses in 13, while Columbus has won 5 straight outscoring opponents 20-2 in that time and have just 3 loses in any competition all season.
I still would have to think Columbus win here at home, but Charlotte’s looked impressive as well and perhaps … there is some letdown after smacking LAFC. But then Charlotte got the win earlier this season 2-0 so the Crew could have some revenge on their minds. These are the top two defensive teams this season in goals allowed so it could be close.
So let’s use Columbus double chance in this parlay.
- MLS Predictions: Columbus double chance
- Parlay Picks: Miami over 1.5 / Cincy double chance / Columbus double chance (+106)
Colombus and Cincy are likely winners in the above games. So it’s not a bad idea to go that route for a better payout. But Charlotte has been good and Acosta could be out, so we’re playing it safe.
MLS Picks and Parlays #2
Philadelphia Union vs New England Revolution Prediction
This one could be ugly with 15th hosting 13th. Or maybe fun. We had 3 goals in the last meeting, a 3-0 road Philly win in May.
New England was still spiralling back then. They’ve been a bit better winning 6/7 but are back to losing with losses in 3/4. These scorelines have read 3-1, 2-0, 2-1, 5-1, 2-1 and 3-2 in reverse order, so maybe we see goals.
The Union gave up a 1-0 lead and lost to a TFC team that had been free-falling on Saturday.
That makes Philly winless in 10 with just 1 win in 17. Recent scorelines have been 2-1, 0-0, 4-3, 4-2, 2-0, 4-3, 2-1 and 2-2 in reverse order.
I can’t trust either to win here. It’s probably a good BTTS bet. But I’ll bet Over 1.5 in this parlay.
- MLS Predictions: Over 1.5
Nashville SC vs Orlando City SC Prediction
It’s 4 straight losses for Nashville but the last 3 came on the road and the 4th was at home to Miami.
Back at GEODIS Park for this one is where they’ll face Orlando. The Yotes have scored 13 straight times when playing at home in all comps. But BTTS is also 10-2 in their last 12 so defense has been an issue.
Orlando, minus Duncan McGuire off to the Olympics, got a brace from Facundo Torres and another from Ramiro Enrique and went to New England and won 3-1 Saturday.
That makes them 3-0-0 and 4-1-1 in recent games, where they’ve also scored multiple goals in 6 straight. But … BTTS has gone 6-1 in their past 7.
- MLS Predictions: Both teams to score
Seattle Sounders vs St. Louis City SC Prediction
I’ve not often bet many Sounders games, usually because they just aren’t consistent.
But lately, they have been. Include a USOC win and they’ve won 5 straight, are undefeated in 7 and are 8-3-1 in their past 12. It’s also just 2 losses 17 in all comps. I may be late to the Seattle train.
Jordan Morris is thriving in the #9 role and has goals in 3 straight and goals in 8/11. Seattle overall, hasn’t been held off the scoresheet in 12 games. We may also get a full game from Pedro de la Vega soon as he started his first game since coming back from injury on the weekend and played 45 minutes.
St. Louis has been equally consistent but in a bad way. A win over Wooden Spoon leaders San Jose is their only win in 12 games. They’re coming off back-to-back 4-1 losses and have given up 4 goals in 3/4 games.
City are still winless away from home this season at 0-5-5 and that doesn’t look like it will change here.
In 3 all-time meetings, Seattle has won all 3, 3-0 and 2-0 last year and 2-1 in St. Louis this year in May. Seattle should win this game, but I’m just asking them to score.
- MLS Predictions:
- Parlay Picks: PHI vs NE over 1.5 / NAS vs ORL btts / SEA to score (+132)
MLS Picks and Parlays #3
Vancouver Whitecaps vs Sporting KC Prediction
No team has seen more Over 2.5 games than SKC at 19-5.
It was another Over 2.5 for SKC vs SJ this weekend in a 2-1 win. That gives them wins in 3/4 in MLS and 4/5 overall. They’ve scored multiple goals in 3/4 of those MLS games too.
It also extends these stats!
SKC have scored in 21/24 and conceded in 22/24. BTTS bets for SKC this season have gone 20-4 in MLS alone.
But not just that, the BTTS & Over 2.5 has gone 11-2 and 18-3 in recent SKC games. SKC has given up multiple goals in 10/13 and in 14/18 recent MLS games.
The only positive to those negative defensive stats was the SJ goal was an own goal scored late in the 82’ minute.
The Caps also played to a BTTS & Over 2.5 winning 4-1 in St. Louis. In all comps they’re 4-1-0 in 5 and have just 2 losses in 9.
Vancouver is just 13-9 to Over 2.5 totals, but they’re 20-2 to Over 1.5. SKC is 22-2 to Over 1.5.
There haven’t been fewer than 2 goals in a Caps game in any of their last 10.
This could very easily be a good BTTS bet considering as hot as Vancouver is they’ve still conceded in 14/15 in all comps. The one clean sheet they have in that time was vs Pacific in the Canadian Championship.
- MLS Predictions: Both teams to score
LA Galaxy vs Colorado Rapids Prediction
A top 4 matchup with 3rd LA Galaxy hosting 4th Colorado in midweek play and both are looking to get back in the win column.
LA after a 2-0 road loss in Dallas and Colorado after a 1-1 home draw with the Red Bulls.
That was the first time in 9 games the Galaxy didn’t score. They’re back home for this one where their only home loss this season came in El Trafico. In MLS alone, they have only 2 home losses in 21 games going back to last June.
The Rapids are still in great form despite the NY draw, at 5-1-1 in their past 7. Now, 5/7 have come at home.
Recent road game have not gone well for Colorado with:
- 3-0 loss to LAFC
- 3-0 win over STL
- 2-1 loss to VAN
- 3-1 loss to HOU
- 5-3 loss to RSL
So in their past 5 road games they’ve been outscored 13-8. Betting the Over would have gone a perfect 5-0.
These are 2 of the higher scoring teams in the league with the Rapids tied in 4th and the Galaxy tied in 6th. Colorado will have to do without second-leading scorer Djordje Mihailovic who has 10 goals and is off to the Olympics. But then LA were without Dejan Jovelic on the weekend as well and he could be out here too.
The last meeting last year was 0-0 but 5 of the other 6 all saw both teams scoring.
Which I would love to bet again, but have some pause with star players out for both teams. I’d lean Galaxy to win or just Galaxy to score in the MLS picks and parlays.
- MLS Predictions: LAG to score
LAFC vs RSL Prediction
It’s a huge match at the top of the table in the West with 1st LAFC hosting 2nd RSL, with both on 43 points. However, the lustre gets taken off a bit with the news that current Golden Boot leader Chicho Arango has been suspended 4 games fo violating the league’s anti-harassment policy. That takes out a guy whose 17G/11A has seen him involved in over half of RSL’s goals.
Both are coming off rare, and even rarer, bad losses this weekend. LAFC 5-1 to Columbus and RSL 3-0 to Portland. Now RSL have other guys who can score but they just got shut out with Chicho this past weekend.
That was LAFC’s 1st loss in 13 but kept alive a streak of scoring in 21 games. BTTS is 6-1 in all comps though of late.
RSL’s long MLS undefeated streak already ended a few games back but it’s still only 3 losses in all comps in 20, where they’ve scored in 19/23 as well.
RSL won 3-0 at home in March and the BTTS bet has gone 0-6 in recent meetings. But both are loaded with talent and will be looking to rebound from Saturday.
I was all for betting on goals in this game but if RSL get shut out again without Chicho I’ll feel silly betting on that. So it’s either an LAFC win for me or just asking for their to be 2 goals in this game overall in this parlay.
- MLS Predictions: Over 1.5
- Parlay Picks: VAN vs SKC btts / LAG to score / LAFC vs RSL over 1.5 (+114)
