Inter played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Mexico’s Monterrey on Matchday 1 despite falling behind but only led 2-1 in shots on target.

That was good enough to win their group, 2 points clear of Monterrey.
At one point Inter looked like they could win multiple trophies during the European season but one by one they fell out contention losing in the Coppa Italia Final to AC Milan, falling just short of the Serie A title by 1 point to Napoli on the final weekend of the season and then getting blown out of the Champions League Final to PSG by an embarrassing 5-0 scoreline.
Inter has now conceded in 15/19 but have just given up 2 goals this tournament. Martinez has a shot on target in all 3 games and 2 goals.
Fluminense Preview
Brazil’s Fluminense has been one of many Brazilian teams to put on a good showing so far at the CWC. They held German giants Dortmund to just a 0-0 draw while outshooting them 14-7 and 5-3 in shots on target. They held Dortmund to just 0.24 of xG.
In Game 2, they were frustrated by Korea’s Ulsan being down 2-1 at the half but then exploded for 3 more goals to win 4-2. They led with 70% possession, shots 25-10, shots on target 8-3 and corners 12-4.
Game 3 came vs South Africa’s Mamelodi and while they didn’t lose, the 0-0 draw saw them concede 68% possession and get outshot 7-6 and 3-0 in shots on target.
In Brazil’s Serie A they’re 6-2-3, good enough for 6th place with 20 points and just 4 back of 1st-place Flamengo. Their games have been tight, scoring 15, allowing 12 and being 7-4 to Under 2.5.
Fluminense came into the CWC undefeated across 6 matches winning 4 in a row and scoring 2+ goals in all 4. So after drawing Mamelodi they’re undefeated in 8 and have kept clean sheets in 4/5.

Inter has only totalled 9 shots on target, were behind in both opening games and only scored vs River after the Argentines took a red. They’ve not lost though and have only given up 2 goals.
Fluminense have also not been defeated and have also only given up 2 goals. They also couldn’t muster a single shot on target vs Mamelodi. A game with Inter is a big step up. You’d expect Inter to win, but I also see this being low scoring and maybe closer than expected.
