The Champions League returns with Matchday 3 on Tuesday and Wednesday and 9 games on both days. Today we’ll break down the top Champions League predictions, picks and parlays for Tuesday’s games, focusing on three games in one parlay created over at Bet365.
Arsenal vs Shakhtar Donetsk Prediction
It was a 0-0 draw with Atalanta and a 2-0 win over PSG for the Gunners so far. Meanwhile, Shakhtar could only draw 0-0 in Italy vs Bologna and then played a second Italian opponent in Atalanta as well and were blanked 3-0.
In all comps this season Arsenal had been 8-3-0 and outscored opponents 24-7. Go back to last season they had been 14-3-0 in all comps. Then they went to Bournemouth this weekend and suffered a shock 2-0 road defeat.
Shakhtar is off to an OK start in the Ukranian league at 6-1-2 in 4th.
They’ve not had much success in the UCL though in recent years, especially on the road. They have 4 wins in 21 and only 2 have come on the road.
Arsenal are huge favorites at -1000 so you’ll need to get creative.
I’m going to look for an Arsenal win where they score at least 2 goals in an SGP. And also add them to get the most shots on target which you can do over at Bet365. Shakhtar were outshot 4-1 vs Bologna and 5-0 vs Atalanta in shots on target.
- Champions League Predictions: Arsenal to win + to score over 1.5 + to have most shots on target
Juventus vs Stuttgart Prediction
Juve are still undefeated in Serie A at 4-4-0, sitting 2nd and outscoring their opponents 11-1. They’ve also yet to lose in the UCL with a 3-1 and 3-2 win over PSV and RBL.
Stuttgart haven’t been bad, but have yet to win in the UCL and are 25th after a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid and a 1-1 draw with Sparta Prague.
Include all comps this season and Stuttgart are 3-4-4. They have scored in 10/11, but are coming off a 4-0 route in Bayern on the weekend and have conceded in 11/11.
You’d think Juve gets the win or you could look to the double chance, draw no bet or simply to score in a parlay.
- Champions League Predictions: Juventus to score
Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund Prediction
Oddsmakers are expecting a boatload of goals in this UCL Final rematch that saw Madrid win 2-0 back in June. The Over 2.5 is juiced to -225 and the BTTS is -175.
Therefore, there could be some value in going the other way. Under 2.5 is +175 and even the Under 3.5 is playable at -138. And … since we’re doing a parlay, even the Under 4.5 is an option at -334.
Madrid’s UCL games have been a 3-1 win over Stuttgart and a 1-0 loss to Lille. That snapped a run of 14 UCL games undefeated and is only their 3rd UCL loss in 29.
Since that loss they have 2-0 and 2-1 La Liga wins. In La Liga they are 6-4 to Under 2.5 and their games average 2.8 GPG.
For Dortmund, they’re at the top of the new 36-teams table after 3-0 and 7-1 wins over Club Brugge and Celtic. Madrid will be a whole different challenge. And while Dortmund games have averaged 3.7 GPG in Germany and they’re 5-2 to the Over, the style of play in the Bundesliga is different than La Liga and the UCL.
Madrid don’t look as ruthless to start this season, Mbappe has yet to take off and they’ve lost Carvajal for the year with a knee injury. But the Dortmund is 0-2-5 all-time when playing at the Bernabeu and the hat-trick hero from the Celtic game Adeyemi is out with a hamstring injury.
Most Madrid games are close and even when they win, they leave it late. Dortmund are in good form and will have some revenge on their mind. I expect a tighter, lower-scoring game.
- Champions League Predictions: Under 4.5 (-334)
- Parlay Picks: ARS win + O1.5 + most shots on target / JUV to score / RM vs DOR U4.5 (-118)
