Champions League Matchday 6 takes place from Tuesday, December 10 – Wednesday, December 11, 2024. Let’s cover the best Champions League picks from each day with 3 parlays covering 8 games, plus 2 games that look like good draw potential among big teams.
Champions League Picks and Parlays #1
Girona vs Liverpool Prediction
Liverpool have been near-perfect all season in all comps. In the UCL they’re top of the pile at 5-0-0, outscoring opponents 12-1. They’re also 1st in the EPL at 11-2-1.
The Reds will come in fresh as their game this weekend with Everton was postponed due to Storm Darragh. Their last game was a wild 3-3 draw with Newcastle, but look at all comps and they’re 18-2-1, undefeated in 17 and have scored multiple goals in 9 straight.
Girona has struggled in the UCL, sitting 30th at 1-0-4, being outscored 9-4.
In La Liga on Saturday they played Real Madrid and lost 3-0. They’ve now gone 0-1-3 in their past 4, were knocked out of the Copa del Rey to a lower tier side last week and have scored just 2 goals in 4 games fighting back late to draw Villarreal 2-2 being down 2-0.
Girona has struggled against much weaker teams than Liverpool. Their 1 UCL win came vs 35th Slovan Bratislavava. Liverpool are one of if not Europe’s best teams right now and should easily have too much talent for this not to be another 3 points.
- Champions League Predictions: Liverpool win
Dinamo Zagreb vs Celtic Prediction
These 2 teams have seen some of the most goals this tournament.
Zagreb’s have averaged 5.0 GPG and Celtic’s 4.0.
That’s come with scores of 9-2 (L), 2-2, 2-0 (W), 4-1 (W) and 3-0 (L) for Zagreb.
And a 5-1 (W), 7-1 (L), 0-0, 3-1 (W) and 1-1 for Celtic.
Both have suffered some heavy defeats by superior teams and also had some comfortable wins.
Zagreb has gone 4-1 to Over 2.5 and 5-0 to Over 1.5. They’ve scored in 4/5 and conceded in 4/5.
Celtic is just 3-2 to Over 2.5, but 4-1 to Over 1.5. They’ve scored in 4/5 and conceded in 4/5.
This could be close. We could see goals from both or at least 2 in some fashion. In the Scottish league Celtic are 14-1 to Over 1.5 and in Croatia Zagreb are 12-4 to Over 1.5.
Form-wise though, Celtic is much hotter. Since an embarrassing 7-1 loss to Dortmund, they’ve gone undefeated in 13 at 10-3-0, have won 9/10, scored multiple goals in 8/10 and kept clean sheets in 3/4.
Zagreb is slumping with no wins in 5 across all comps while also only scoring 3 goals, and just 1 in their past 4.
In 23 games across all matches this season, only a 0-0 with Atalanta has seen the Bhoys not score. Go back further they’ve scored in 34/35 and 46/48.
- Champions League Predictions: Celtic to score
- Parlay Picks: LIV win / CEL to score (-118) CZR
Champions League Picks and Parlays #2
Shakhtar Donetsk vs Bayern Munich Prediction
Shakhtar are just 2 points below the playoff line at 1-1-3, sitting 26th. Their points have come vs other struggling sides — a 0-0 draw with 33rd Bologna and a 2-1 win over 36th Young Boys.
After losing 2 straight in the UCL, Bayern responded with 1-0 wins over Benfica and PSG. They’re still just 13th at 3-0-2.
Harry Kane went off injured versus Dortmund 3 games back in a 1-1 draw. Since, they lost to Leverkusen in the Pokal last week and then won, but in a closer-that-you’d-think 4-2 game over Heidenheim this weekend. Kane should return this year but not yet. This weekend Dayot Upamecano and Leon Goretzka got on the scoresheet with a goal each and Jamal Musiala had a brace. To add to the injury list, both Kingsley Coman and Alphonso Davies also suffered injuries this weekend. With captain Manuel Neuer missing out this weekend with a rib injury, it could be a UCL debut for Israsel international keeper Daniel Peretz.
They should still have enough firepower to see off Shakhtar who’s 3rd in Ukraine and typically struggles in the UCL having won only 1/6 and 5/24 in the competition in recent years. With Schalke being the “home” stadium for Shakhtar right now, Bayern will be playing in familiar surroundings in Germany.
- Champions League Predictions: Bayern Munich Over 1.5
Club Brugge vs Sporting Prediction
22nd Club Brugge (2-1-2) hosts 10th Sporting (3-1-1).
In Belgium, Brugge have racked up 36 goals in 17 games and are 2nd.
Sporting have stumbled after the departure of manager Ruben Amorim for Man U. They’re 1st in Portugal but have lost 2 straight 1-0 and 2-1 in the league. Add in a 5-1 smashing by smashing the game prior and it’s 3 straight losses being outscored 8-2. That’s derailed a season that saw them undefeated since the Super Cup in 18 games. The 1-0 loss to Santa Clara 2 games back is the first and only time they haven’t scored this season.
Brugge haven’t lost in any game in 10 games and have just 1 UCL loss to AC Milian 15. They’ve scored in 16 straight games and in 23/25 overall games this season. They have conceded though in 5/6 but more than 1 just 1 time in 10 games.
This could be a good BTTS game. Sporting have one of the top strikers in Europe right now in Viktor Gyokeres and I’ll just bet them to score.
- Champions League Predictions: Sporting to Score
Atalanta vs Real Madrid Prediction
5th Atalanta (3-2-0) one of only 3 teams yet to lose, hosts 24th, Real Madrid (2-0-3) who are holding onto the last playoff spot.
This is a rematch of the Super Cup to kick off the year where Madrid won 2-0. Back in 2021 they met in the UCL and Madrid won 1-0 and 3-1.
La Dea started slow but are now one of the hottest teams in Europe. After besting AC Milan 2-1 this weekend, they’ve won 9 straight, are undefeated in 14 and have scored multiple goals in 9 straight as well outscoring opponents 28-5 in that time.
Madrid rolled Girona on the road this weekend with goals from Bellingham, Guler and Mbappe. They lost away to Bilbao earlier last week, though and were thoroughly outplayed in their last UCL match versus Liverpool losing 2-0. They’re still out several defenders to injury but expect Vinicius and Rodrygo to return.
Madrid’s form is all over the place. They’ve been poor in the UCL. But then have won 4/5 recent games in La Liga. But … those wins have come over Girona, Getafe, Leganes and Osasuna. Lately, they’ve failed to step up in big games with losses to Bilbao, Liverpool, AC Milan, Barcelona, Lille and a draw with Atleti.
This is another big opponent. I’d maybe lean to an Atalanta win or a double chance or draw no bet in a parlay or BTTS.
- Champions League Predictions: Atalanta to score
- Parlay Picks: BM over 1.5 / SPO to score / ATA to score (-124)
Champions League Picks and Parlays #3
Borussia Dortmund vs Barcelona Prediction
Dortmund have been mediocre in the Bundesliga, but in the UCL are 4th at 4-0-1 and have outscored opponents 16-6. Their opponents, Barcelona have been even better, sitting 3rd at 4-0-1 and outscoring opponents 18-5.
Both teams come off of Saturday draws, Dortmund 1-1 away with Gladbach and Barca 2-2 away in Betis.
Both usually score. And often concede.
Dortmund has scored in 18/20 and 7 straight but have conceded in 14/20. With clean sheets in 3/6 and only 2 goals conceded in their past 4 games, defense hasn’t been an issue lately, but they’ll still be hard-pressed to shut down Barca.
Barca has scored in 21/22 this season but has conceded in 16/22 and 9/11.
- Champions League Predictions: Both Teams to Score
Atletico Madrid vs Slovan Bratislava Prediction
Atletico’s games have been sorta wide-open, scoring 11 and conceding 9, being 15th at 3-0-2. All 5 games have gone Over 2.5 and 3/5 have seen the BTTS & Over 2.5 prop cash.
Slovan have been one of the whipping boys in the UCL, sitting 35th, second from bottom at 0-0-5 and outscored 18-4.
Atleti played Sevilla Sunday at the Metropolitana and had a thrilling 4-3 win fighting back from 3-1 down in the 2nd half and winning it in stoppage time.
They’ve now won 9 straight in all competitions outscoring opponents 27-6 and they’re always a good bet at home no matter the comp. Atleti has just 4 home losses in 55 games.
- Champions League Predictions: Atletico Madrid Over 1.5
Lille vs Sturm Graz Prediction
Lille are one of the surprises of the tournament at 3-1-1, being 12th. After losing their first game, they pulled upsets over Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, drew Juventus and then beat Bologna.
They’ll host Austria’s 1st-placed team Sturm Graz who are just 29th in the UCL at 1-0-4. After 4 straight defeats, Graz finally got a win last round, 1-0 over Girona.
I would expect Lille to win. Or at least score for this parlay. Graz have clean sheets in 3/4 recent games but have conceded in 18 of 24 overall games this season.
Lille are on an incredible run where they have not lost in 14 and scored in 13/14, while scoring multiple goals in 4/5.
- Champions League Predictions: Lille to score
- Parlay Picks: DOR vs BAR btts / ATM over 1.5 / LIL to score (-115)
Potential Champions League Draws
There’s two big games here that I think look like good draw potential. If you bet them both and even 1 hits, you’ll still come out on top in your Champions League picks.
Bayer Leverkusen vs Inter Milan Picks
3rd in Germany hosts 3rd in Italy here. So far in the UCL, there’s just 1 loss between with Leverkusen 3-1-1 and Inter 4-1-0. Leverkusen have only allowed 5 goals in 5 games and Inter still 0, the only team yet to concede. But then the 7 goals scored is only better than Aston’s 6 among the top 21 teams.
Bayer are also out attackers Patrick Schick and Victor Boniface. Bayer are at home but then Inter haven’t lost in 13 games with just 1 loss all season.
- Champions League Picks: Draw (+250)
Juventus vs Man City Picks
Juve are the draw kings of Serie A with 9, sitting 6th at 6-9-0, easily the most, with no one else having more than 7. They’ve drawn 3 straight in Serie A and close games have continued in the UCL where they’re 19th at 2-2-1 scoring 7 and conceding only 5.
Overall, Juve have lost just once all season in any competition, but have drawn 4 straight and 7/9.
Man City are all kinds of inconsistent lately, are winless in 2 UCL games, have also drawn 2/5 at 2-2-1, in all comps have 1 win in 9, have conceded in 8/9 and just drew Palace 2-2 this weekend.
- Champions League Picks: Draw (+240)
