In the semis, Uruguay started strong, but Rodrigo Bentancur was forced out with an injury early and after that Colombia grew into the game.
With the first half winding down, James Rodriguez landed a ball perfectly on the head of Jefferson Lerma from a corner kick who headed it past Sergio Rochet in the 39’ minute.
But just as the momentum kept going in Colombia’s favor Daniel Munoz takes a second yellow for an elbow to the face and is sent off in stoppage time meaning Colombia had to defend and hold on all second half.
Marcelo Biesla brought on Luis Suarez and he hits the post in the 71’ minute but it was Colombia that had some more dangerous chances to extend the lead with near misses wide and off the bar.
Giorgian de Arrascaeta had a shot tipped by the keeper and over the bar late in the game for another Uruguay near chance but they could never break through and Colombia goes into the final for the first time in 23 years, their 3rd Copa Final.

Argentina vs Colombia Head-to-Head
The nations have yet to meet in this term’s World Cup Qualifying (WCQ) so the last meeting was in 2022, a 1-0 Argentina win in WQC.
Prior to that, they drew 1-1 in 2021 Copa America action with Argentina winning on PKs and they drew 2-2 before that in 2021 also in WCQ.
In regulation alone, there have been 3 draws in their past 5 meetings and the Under is 7-2 in their past 9 meetings.
Argentina vs Colombia Prediction
When looking at past Copa America Finals, they’ve been tight of late.
- Argentina beat Brazil 1-0 in 2021
- Brazil beat Peru 3-1 in 2019
- Chile and Argentina drew 0-0 (4-2 on PKs Chile) in 2016
- Chile and Argentina drew 0-0 (4-1 on PKs Chile) in 2015
- So Argentina has made the final in 3/4 years and all 3 of those have gone Under 2.5
- The last time Colombia played in the final in 2001, they beat Mexico 1-0
Go back to my pre-tournament video picks and I said Argentina was the most likely team to reach and win the title. That’s not going out on a limb.
But I also said Colombia could top their group and would be the best value bet to reach to the final. And here we are. I do have a little piece of Colombia outright in my pocket.
And I feel the same way now. The obvious pick is Argentina. The value still looks like Colombia.
It’s hard to go against this impressive Colombia undefeated streak, 28 games is wild. But don’t forget Argentina have just 2 lossses 62 games themselves.
Argentina has had a cakewalk to the final though. Peru and Chile aren’t what they once were. And I may be Canadian, but two wins over Canada isn’t much to get excited about. Their toughest task was Ecuador and they nearly lost.
Colombia has been much more tested against Brazil and Uruguay and played down a man for half the game vs Uruguay. Now they could be tired from that and will be missing Munoz and Argentina will have a whole day of extra rest, so how I see this all shaking out is in a draw.
It’s not sexy, but I don’t see much between these teams right now.
Other possible bet options could include:
- 1st half draw (-110)
- Under 2.5 (-225) in a parlay
- Both to Score Yes (+125)
- Colombia double chance (-143)
- Colombia double chance + Under 3/4 (+120 or -110)
- Colombia to lift trophy +162
So to sum up my Argentina vs Colombia prediction let’s back the draw or if you want a winner, I’m siding with Colombia.
- Argentina vs Colombia Predictin: Draw (+187) or for a winner Colombia to lift trophy (+162)
