Champions League Picks and Parlays #1
Atalanta vs Celtic Prediction
Atalanta drew Arsenal 0-0 and then rolled Shakhtar 3-0.
Celtic started strong, thumping Slovan Bratislava 5-1 but then got equally thumped themselves giving up a touchdown to Dortmund and losing 7-1.
Atalanta hasn’t been reliable this season in Serie A at 4-1-3 and while scoring 18 goals is the most in Italy, the 13 given up is tied the for the 6th-most.
The Dortmund loss is the only defeat for Celtic in 24 games in all comps but they have given up multiple goals in 3/5 and in the UCL alone haven’t won a road game in Europa in 9 games going back over several seasons.
- Champions League Predictions: Atalanta over 1.5
Brest vs Bayer Leverkusen Prediction
After an amazing season last year that saw Brest qualify for the UCL, they’ve failed to live up to expectations and are 11th in Ligue 1 so far at 3-1-4 and have been outscored 14-11.
In the UCL though, they’ve been excellent. After 2-1 and 4-0 wins over Sturm Graz and Salzburg, they’re actually 2nd overall out of 36 teams.
You can’t compare those opponents to Leverkusen though. They too have won both games, 4-0 and 1-0 over Feyenoord and AC Milan. The German and Europa League champs are 4th in Germany and have just 2 losses in 64 games in all comps. They have conceded in 8/11 games this season so BTTS could offer some added value to any sort of Leverkusen win.
The only hesitation could be that Victor Boniface was in a car accident this weekend and while the injuries are minor, he could miss out. Florian Wirtz had been injured during international duty but returned on the weekend off the bench so should be available.
- Champions League Predictions: Leverkusen to score
Benfica vs Feyenoord Prediction
Benfica is rising up the table in Portugal after 3 straight wins to sit 3rd. They’ve scored 17 times in just 7 games. They’re also 3rd in the UCL table after 2-1 and 4-0 wins over Red Star and Atletico Madrid.
In all comps Benfica haven’t lost in 9, have won 6 straight all under new coach Bruno Lage who has yet to lose with Benfica. They’ve scored 20 goals in that time and go back into last season and there’s been 2+ goals in 14/15.
Feyenoord got blown out by Leverkusen 4-0 and then beat Girona 3-2, but the win could’ve looked better considering Girona’s 2 goals came from own goals. In the Netherlands they’ve yet to lose at 4-4-0, sitting 4th, while scoring 19 goals in 4 games.
In 37 games in all comps Feyenoord have only lost twice. Once to Leverkusen and once to Roma in PKs way back in February in the UEL. Each of their last 15 games have seen at least 2 or more goals.
- Champions League Predictions: Over 1.5
- Parlay Picks: ATA O1.5 / BL to score / BEN vs FEY O1.5 (-116)
Champions League Picks and Parlays #2
Barcelona vs Bayern Munich Prediction
1st in La Liga hosts 1st in the Bundesliga here with ex-Bayern coach Hansi Flick now on the other side with Barca.
Barcelona just routed Sevilla 5-1 and in all comps are 10-0-2 and they’ve scored multiple goals in 10/12.
Bayern Munich is 5-2-0, have outscored opponents 24-7 and just won 4-0 this weekend. They did have 3-3 and 1-1 draws though before that.
When they last met in the 2022 UCL Bayern won 2-0 and 3-0. Bayern have owned Barca in the UCL winning each of the last 6 meetings and outscoring Barca 22-4.
It’s 1-1-0 for both this campaign though. Bayern demolished Zagreb 9-2 before losing 1-0 to Aston Villa.
Barcelona was upset 2-1 vs Monaco but took a red card early, before ripping to shreds their Swiss opponents Young Boys 5-0 last game.
- Champions League Predictions: Both Teams to Score
Young Boys vs Inter Milan Prediction
Young Boys aren’t even winning in the Swiss league. They’re 2-3-5 and sitting 10th, with their only 2 wins coming vs last place Winterthur and 3rd place Luzern. They’ve allowed 18 goals in those 10 games.
In the UCL they’re 36 out of 36 teams after 3-0 and 5-0 losses to Aston Villa and Barcelona.
Inter is every bit as good and maybe better than both of those teams. They drew 0-0 with Man City and thumped Red Star 4-0.
In Serie A they’re 2nd, with only 1 loss, coming in the Milan Derby.
The Milan loss is their only loss in 13, 2nd loss in 20 and 3rd loss in 36 games in all comps.
- Champions League Predictions: Inter Milan to win
Man City vs Sparta Prague Prediction
After a 0-0 draw with Inter, City rolled past Slovan Bratislava 4-0 with 4 different scorers.
Sparta have gotten off to a decent start themselves, being 10th, compared to 8th of Man City. They beat Salzburg 3-0 before drawing Stuttgart 1-1.
But Man City is a different animal. They’ve yet to lose in any competition this season in 12 games.
Look at the UCL alone and only a PK loss to Real Madrid last season is their only UCL defeat in 25 games. Add in an extra-time loss to Madrid again in 2022, and it’s just 2 losses, neither in regulation in 31 games. Their last regulation UCL loss came in December 2021 vs Leipzig.
- Champions League Predictions: Man City over 1.5
- Parlay Picks: BAR vs BM btts / INT win / MCI O1.5 (+115)
