Their results were 2-1 over Argentina, a 2-1 loss to Ukraine and a 3-0 win over Iraq.

Spain were 2nd in Group C at 2-0-1, ahead of Dominican Republic and Uzbekistan and behind Egypt.

Spain beat Uzbekistan 2-1, Dominican Republic 3-1, lost 2-1 to Egypt with a rotated squad and then beat Japan 3-0 in the quarterfinals led by 2 goals by Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez.

France topped Group A at 3-0-0 ahead of the USA, New Zealand and Guinea.

They beat USA 3-0, Guinea 1-0 and New Zealand 3-0 in the group stage. In the quarterfinals they kept rolling with a 1-0 win over Argentina. 

So they’re a perfect 4-0-0 scoring 8 goals and still not conceding.

This team played many U23 friendlies starting last summer and since that time are 8-2-0, outscoring opponents 26-6 with 6 clean sheets in those 10 games. 

Egypt Preview

Eqypt were 1st in Group C at 2-1-0 ahead of Spain, Dominican Republic and Uzbekistan.

They kicked off the Olympics with a 0-0 draw versus the Dominican Republic, then beat Uzbekistan 1-0 and Spain 2-1. 

Last round in the quarters they drew Paraguay 1-1 before going on to win in PKs. But needed a late equalizer in the 88’ to get there. 

The Egypt U23s play in a variety of competitions including many friendlies, the WAFF Championship and U23 Africa Cup of Nations where they were 2nd to Morocco.
