MLS Predictions, Picks and Parlays – MLS Matchday 23

In the midst of the Euros and Copas we also have MLS Matchday 23 with 1 game on Friday and 13 games on Saturday. Let’s take a quick look at Friday’s standalone game and then get into this weekend’s MLS predictions for Saturday.

NYCFC vs Orlando City SC Prediction

It’s arrow down on NYCFC having now lost 3 straight, 1-0, 2-0 and 3-2.

Those last 2 shutout losses came on the road. At home in MLS they’ve scored in 12/13 going back to last season.

It’s arrow up … on Orlando after last week’s 4-2 win over Chicago? That may be too soon to say since that’s their only win in 6 games.

NY has scored vs Orlando in 17 straight meetings and in 22/24 all-time meetings.

Orlando has conceded in 6 straight and in 15/19 this season.

Nashville SC vs Inter Miami Prediction

Another Nashville – Miami game. It was 3-1 Miami in Miami in April.

It was 3-1 Miami and 2-2 in the Champions Cup. They played 4 times last season. Miami is undefeated in 6 vs Nashville.

A much improved Nashville team is 5-4-2 in their past 11 with just 1 loss in 8. Their last 2 games are 1-0 and 2-1 wins over NYCFC and Toronto.

The juggernaut that is Miami hasn’t missed a beat without Messi, Suarez and others, getting 2-1 wins over Columbus and Philly.

They were off last week so are rested and are 9-2-1 in MLS of late.

We have a team whose game see tons of goals, Miami (3.8) and one who’s don’t Nashville (2.4).

Miami has gone Over 2.5 at a 15-5 rate and Over 1.5 at an 18-2 rate.

Avilas and Ruiz come back for Miami here after suspensions, but they’re still without a ton of players. But, still have a loaded team.

Nashville too have Shaq Moore and Jacob Shaffelburg out for international duty.

Sporting Kansas City vs Austin FC Prediction

In losing 4-0 to Columbus last week, a scoring streak of 8 games for SKC came to an end but it still extends many other streaks and trends … most which are bad.

SKC have scored in 17/20 and conceded in 19/20 and 17 straight. BTTS bets for SKC this season have gone 17-3 in MLS.

But not just that, the BTTS & Over 2.5 has gone 8-1 and 15-2 in recent SKC games. SKC has given up multiple goals in 8/9 and in 12/14 recent MLS games. They have just 1 win 14 MLS games too. Ouch.

Betting Austin road wins is not something that is usually a good bet. In 34 road games in all comps they have 5 wins. But 1, came last week in Minnesota, 1-0.

Still they’re 2-3-5 and outscored 13-5 on the road this season.

These teams did play in May, in Austin and Austin won 3-2.

Previous scores? 2-1 (AUS), 4-1 (SKC) and 4-3 (AUS).

In 8 all-time meetings the BTTS is 7-1. The BTTS & Over 2.5 is 6-2.

There’s a chance this ends in stinker since both are struggling, 0-0 or 1-0. But You can’t trust SKC to shut out anyone. And surely at home, SKC will look for some sort of rebound after losing 4-0 last week.

  • MLS Predictions:  Both to Score

MLS Picks and Parlays #2

New England Revolution vs Columbus Crew Prediction

It’s 4 straight wins for New England, 2-1, 1-0, 3-2 and then 2-1 over Cincinnati last week. FCC did take a red card in the 69’ minute though.

Columbus lost to the Miami backups two games ago 2-1 but rebounded in the Aidan Morris farewell game by thumping SKC 4-0 alongside a Cucho Hernandez hat-trick.

The Crew are 5-0-1 in their past 6 in MLS.

Either the Revs aren’t for real and Columbus blows this pretender out. Or New England is actually improved and at home and in good form to contribute to the scoresheet as well.

In the last 7 Crew games 2+ goals has happened in 7, and 3+ in 6.

The Crew have scored in 7 straight and 14/17 MLS games this season.

The only question to me is if the Revs can score. I’m going to say yes. They’re building some momentum, have added a few new players, Caleb Porter will be coaching against his old team, the Crew have allowed a goal in 5/7 MLS games and will need to adjust to not having Morris in the midfield.

Giacomo Vrioni is starting to cash in on his chances too. In his last 7 games he has 20 shots and 8 shots on target. In his last 2 games he has 7 shots, 3 shots on target and 3 goals.

  • MLS Predictions: Both to Score

FC Dallas vs FC Cincinnati Prediction

Dallas lost 3-2 in Seattle last week but are 2-1-1 in 4 and have 2, 5 and 2 goals in their past 3.

Dallas may have struggled this season but they’ve scored in 13/14.

DP striker Petar Musa has come to life with 7 shots, 5 shots on target and 4 goals in his past 2 games.

Cincy shockingly lost at home to New England last week. But took a red card (defensive-mid Obinna Nwobodo) in the second half, and had used all of their subs when they lost Hagglund to injury so they played with 10 men from the 69’ minute on and then 9 men for the final 10 minutes or so after the injury.

Cincy defensive concerns are compounding. Miles Robinson is at the Copas. Matt Miazga is injured for a while. And Nick Hagglund went down with a broken fibula last week.

Despite the loss, Cincy is 9-0-2 in 11 and as long as Luciano Acosta is in the lineup, they’ll have a chance to win or at least score.

He’s had a goal, assist or both in 7/8 games and has 9 G / 15 A on the year.

Dallas has been more exciting and offensive under interim manager Peter Luccin, but Cincy is still better, but are missing tons of denfenders.

MLS Picks and Parlays #3

Portland Timbers vs Minnesota United Prediction

Side by side in the table, 6th Portland hosts 5th Minnesota.

The Timbers shut out Vancouver 2-0 last week and are 5-2-1 in their past 8.

Portland’s defense isn’t good, but has slightly omproved woth clean sheets on 3/5.

Offensively, Portland has scored in 17/20 this season and multiple in 5/6.

Minnesota has cooled off with 3 straight losses, 1-0, 5-3 and 2-0 and have just 1 win 7.

The Loons have now won 3 straight vs Portland, winning 2-1 in May and winning both last season 4-1 and 1-0.

The Loons are already missing a ton of players to internatinal duty and are now out Dotson from last week’s red card.

Portland is also out Crepeau, Miller and Araujo but have still been performing.

  • MLS Predictions: Portland win (-110)

MLS Picks and Parlays #4

San Jose Earthquakes vs LA Galaxy Prediction

A game at Stanford Stadium here for the Cali Clasico.

It’s bottom vs 3rd, SJ being 14th in the West and LA 3rd. Overall standings as well as current form could not be more different.

San Jose hasn’t won in 8 games in all comps and has allowed a goal in every single game this season minus 1 USOC game. They’ve given up multiple goals in 4 straight and 7/9.

The only positive is they’ve scored in 18/21.

LA, only has 3 losses on the year and only 1 loss in 10. They’ve won 5/6 and that includes stopping RSL’s long win streak last week going to Sandy Utah and winning 1-0. Lately they’ve been winning without the injured Riqui Puig, but he looks set to return.

They’ve won 3 straight for the first time under Greg Vanney as well.

The Galaxy have scored in 6 straight and 8/9, but have conceded in 6/9.

There’s been 2 meetings this season already. March 24 won 3-1 by LA and April 24 won 4-3 by LA.

The Galaxy are undefeated vs San Jose in 6.

This rivalry is the highest-scoring one in MLS history. And this is just a small snapshot of why.

Prior results to this season have seen scorelines of: 3-2, 2-2, 2-1, 3-2, 3-2, 2-1 and 3-1.

It seems obvious the Galaxy are scoring. But the Quakes can score too and may get some new coach bump after Luchi Gonzalez was fired this week and replaced by their assistant coach Ian Russell.

Hard not to see LA scoring 2, so it comes down to can SJ get at least one. I’ll bet they can.

  • MLS Predictions: BTTS & Over 2.5  (-188)

LAFC vs Colorado Rapids Prediction

Top 4 matchup with 1st LAFC hosting 4th Colorado.

LAFC’s 8-game win streak in all comps ended 2 games back with a 1-1 draw in Austin. But they smacked San Jose 6-2 last week to get back in the Win Column and extend their undefeated streak to 10 games with just 1 loss in 15.

The Rapids had gone 5 games without a win but have since won 2-0, 3-0 and 4-1 last week over Montreal.

In 20 games this season, Colorado has scored in 19 games, including each of their past 15. The Over 2.5 has gone 6-1 in recent games and 14-6 on the season. Only 4 teams have seen more Over 2.5 games than Colorado.

Both have scored 38 goals on the season.

There has been 4 straight clean sheets with these teams, with 3-0, 2-0, 0-0 and 4-0 scores, but in March this season, we saw a shootout with the Rapids winning 3-2.

Certainly BTTS is in play. LAFC have conceded in 3 straight but do have clean sheets in 6/9. The Rapids’ Djordje Mihailovic is hot too with 4 goals and 2 assists in his last two games.

  • MLS Predictions:  Over 1.5 (-700)
  • Parlay Picks:  SJ vs LA btts and over 2.5 / LAFC vs COL over 1.5 (-134)
