Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund Head-to-Head
Real Madrid leads the all-time history between them at 8-5-3. They last met in this year’s UCL League Phase with Madrid winning 5-2. They also met in the 2023/24 UCL Final with Madrid winning 2-0. Madrid has now won 4 straight between them.
The other head-to-head we won’t see is a matchup between Bellingham brothers as Jobe is suspended for Dortmund. Jamie Bynoe-Gittens could also miss out as he’s near a move to Chelsea.

That set up a big clash with Juventus which saw the return of Mbappe to the lineup but not before Garcia scored again, proving to be the only goal in a 1-0 Madrid win. They led in shots 21-6 and shots on target 11-2.
Real Madrid were 7-0-3 in their final 10, only losing to Barca (twice) and Arsenal. They also scored multiple goals in 6/7. So it’s now 7 games undefeated. They have conceded in 6/10.
Youngster Gonzalo Garcia has impressed the most with 3G/1A this tournament to go with 9 shots and 6 on target.
Dortmund Preview
Despite being favored to win against Brazil’s Fluminense, Dortmund struggled and ended drawn 0-0 on Matchday 1.
On Matchday 2, Bellingham scored his first goal with the team. Nmecha, Guirassy and and own goal saw Dortmund score 4 times vs Mamelodi and take a commanding 4-1 lead, only to be made to hang on with a 4-3 win.
Then in Game 3 vs Ulsan, despite having 60% possession and the shots edge 28-3 and 11-3, only a 36′ minute Svennson goal stood up as the winner in a 1-0 game.
Guirassy put Dortmund two to the good early in the Round of 16 vs Monterrey scoring in the 14′ and 24′. Monterrey pulled one back in the 48′ but that was it, giving Dortmund 2-1 win. Monterrey had many more chances though outshooting Dortmund 14-6 and 7-3 in shots on target.
Dortmund was scorching hot down the stretch in the Bundesliga and in the final days reached 4th overall. That claimed them the final Champions League spot.
Dortmund is now undefeated in 11 at 9-2-0. They’ve played to a ton of Overs, being 11-2 to Over 2.5 totals in all comps of late.
Guirassy has 3 goals this tournament. He’s piled up the shots with shot attempts of 4, 7, 6 and shots on target of 3, 4, 3. His last 10 games have seen him score 12 goals, 2 assists, 35 attempts and 20 shots on target.
Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund Prediction
I trust Madrid more at this point in the tournament. In fact they’ve never lost a match in their history in the event winning all 16, albeit in different formats.
Dortmund haven’t had much success against them and they’ve not had the toughest path considering they had Mamelodi and Ulsan. I’d like to include Guirassy for a shot or goal but then Madrid just held Juve to only 2 shots on target. He did attempt all 6 of Dortmund’s shots last game though, scoring twice.
Madrid rarely blows anyone away. So some betting options could be Madrid to win and Under 3.5 or Madrid to win and Under 4.5 at (+105). Or Madrid to win and Garcia to have a shot on target at (+110). The concern there is with Mbappe back, he’s likely to start given his form, but will probably get subbed off like he did last game.
