Benfica vs Chelsea Head-to-Head
In 3 all-time meetings Chelsea has never lost to Benfica, but none have been recent. The results were 1-0 and 2-1 Chelsea in the 2012 UCL and 2-1 Chelsea in the 2013 UEL.
Benfica Preview
Benfica found themselves in a hole early vs Boca Juniors 2-0 down in game 1. Angel Di Maria cut the lead to 2-1 through a penalty before halftime, Boca took a red card in the 45′, Benfica took a red themselves in the 72′, Nicolas Otamendi tied it in the 84′ for a 2-2 draw.
On Matchday 2, Benfica were made to work for it against Auckland, only scoring in 1st half stoppage time and through a penalty. It was only in the second half where the floodgates opened for 5 more goals and the Portuguese team won 6-0. Angel Di Maria scored 2 PKS and Leandro Barreiro scored a brace as well in the win.
On Matchday 3 they knew they likely needed a result and they got it versus a Bayern team that rotated in the first half. Andreas Schjelderup scored in the 13′ and Benfica held on as the Bayern starters came on in the 2nd half, but could not score, leaving Benfica with a 1-0 win and being 1st in Group C above Bayern.
The Portuguese powerhouse fell just short of the title to their Lisbon rivals finishing 2nd in the Liga in the Portuguese season. Their 80 points put them just 2 back of 1st-placed Sporting.
Benfica has now lost just once in 16 overall matches in the Taca de Portugal Final to Sporting on May 25.
Player props will likely start with the two key men in Vangelis Pavlidis (19G/7A) and Kerem Aktürkoğlu (11G/9A). However, between them, only Pavlidis has 1 goal. It’s Angel di Maria with 3, albeit all from PKs who leads the way. For shots, he has 2/1, 6/4 and 2-1 in attempts/on target.
Benfica has now scored in 17 straight in all comps, but have also been giving up plenty of goals having conceded in 5/6, making BTTS bets 5-2. Over 2.5 bets have also gone 15-3 on their own.

Chelsea Preview
Chelsea had a 2-0 Matchday 1 win, beating LAFC with goals from Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez in the 34′ and 79′ minutes. That does mean, that LAFC at least hung around for most of the game. Chelsea also debuted a new signing in Liam Delap from Ipswich who assisted on the second goal.
Chelsea scored early through Pedro Neto again in the 13′ minute versus Flamengo, but Flamengo fought back and scored twice to take a 2-1 lead in the second half. Then, after Nicolas Jackson saw red, the Brazilians scored again to get the upset 3-1 win on Matchday 2.
On Matchday 3 it was a straightforward 3-0 win over Esperance, leading 2-0 at the half with a goal from Delap again and they added a third late on in the 97′. Chelsea had 75% possession and led in shots 16-3 and 7-0 on target. With Jackson still suspended, Delap could start up top.
They were second in Group D.
Chelsea finishing 4th and in the EPL and in the Conference League they cruised to the final where they easily brushed aside Real Betis of Spain 4-1.
The Blues have only 2 losses in 12 and only 3 losses in 17 after the win over Esperance.

Benfica vs Chelsea Prediction
We’ve seen Chelsea lose to Flamengo and Benfica upset Bayern. Perhaps this will be closer than expected and we can see a draw. Or we can get creative with a same-game parlay.
