Fluminense vs Al Hilal Head-to-Head

This will be the first-ever meeting between these team, however, Al-Hilal have played Brazilian teams twice in previous Club World Cup formats, losing 3-1 to Flamengo in the 2020 semifinals and then beating them 3-2 in the semis in 2023.

Al Hilal Preview

The Saudis got a good result on Matchday 1 drawing Real Madrid 1-1 despite being outshot 19-13 and 7-2 on target.

Koulibaly gave Hilal a 3-2 lead, Foden levelled for 3-3 and then Leonardo ended it with a 112′ minute winner to pull off the shock upset. Hilal had only 30% possession and were outshot 30-17 and 15-6 on target. And 19-4 in corners. They will lose LB Rene for the quarters from yellow card accumulation.

They now have only 1 loss in 14 games and are undefeated in 9 outscoring opponents 23-11.

In the CWC their stats leaders see Leonardo leading with 3 goals after his brace last game. He’s had 2 shots on target in back-to-back games and 12 attempts this tournament.

Fluminense vs Al Hilal Prediction

Both teams are still undefeated in the competition. With scores of 0-0, 4-2, 0-0 and 2-0, as stated, Fluminense have been an Under team.

But Hilal, with scores of 1-1, 0-0, 2-0 and 4-3 are in the same boat. Hilal have the more impressive upset over Man City and a draw with Real Madrid, but upsetting the UCL finalists of Inter is no small feat either.

This will also be a different task for Hilal. City controlled the play and allowed Hilal to break out on counters. I’d expect Flu to concede possession and play more defensive, something they’ve been solid at. The only game they had the possession edge in was vs Ulsan.

Before allowing 3 to City and including extra-time, Hilal had allowed only 2 goals. Meanwhile, Flu have given up just 3 goals in 4 games, with clean sheets in 3/4. I see this being tight and hard to split.
