Juventus vs Man City Head-to-Head
Juventus has had City’s number in recent years winning the past 3 meetings 2-1, 1-0 and 2-0 in 2015 (2) and then most recently last December in the Champions League League Phase. City’s last win was in 1976 and overall Juventus is 3-2-1.
Juventus Preview
Juventus cruised on Matchday 1 easily swatting aside Abu Dhabi’s Al Ain by a 5-0 score. Juve jumped out to a quick lead being up 3-0 just 31 minutes in and 4-0 at the half. Both Kolo Muani and Conceicao had a brace and Yildiz had another. Juve had 64% possession and led in shots 16-9 and shots on target 7-5.
It was more of the same on Matchday 2 versus Wydad. An own goal in the 6′ minute gave Juve the lead, Yildiz scored twice and Vlahovic added a late PK for a 4-1 win. Oddly, Juve was outshot 15-9 and 6-3 in shots/on target.
This wasn’t a season to get too excited about Juventus. They finished 4th in the UCL but just barely, with 70 points and 5th Roma right behind with 69. Those 70 points were also 12 back of 1st place Napoli and the reason is simple, too many draws. The most in Serie A. Juve finished 18-16-4 to be the draw kings. In fact, in all comps, they had 20 draws, tying a club record. Juve weren’t prolific scorers but they did keep 17 clean sheets. While Juventus only lost once in their final 9 games, they also only won 5 of their final 11.
Dusan Vlahovic is the main man up top scoring 10 and adding 4 assists. He only got 20 minutes versus Al Ain though. He got about the same amount in Game 2 with Kolo Muani starting up top.
Kolo Muani had a strong first game with 3 shots, 3 on target and 2 goals. He’s had 1+ shot on target in 7/10.

Manchester City Preview
Man City scored early with Foden striking in the 2′ minute and Doku adding another before the half but that was all they could muster against Morocco’s Wydad AC in a 2-0 win. City had 68% possession, and led in shots 15-12 and shots on target 6-2.
In Game 2 it was all City. Pep rotated from Game 1, Haaland came back into the starting lineup, scored a PK goal, Gundogan scored twice and Echeverri, Bobb, and Cherki all found the scoresheet in a 6-0 romp of Al Ain. City had 74% possession and led in shots 21-5 and shots on target 5-1.
It was a hugely disappointing season for Pep Guardiola and Man City who fell behind in the title race and never got back in. They finished 3rd at 21-8-9, scoring 72 and allowing 44 to have 71 points. That was 3 back of 2nd Arsenal and 13 back of 1st Liverpool.
Defense was an issue all season as they conceded in many games and they just weren’t as dominant as years past.
City was knocked out of the 4th round of the EFL Cup, the knockout round of the Champions League and then lost in the FA Cup Final 1-0 to Crystal Palace.
Despite a down season for Man City, they’ve lost only 1/15 coming into this match.

Juventus vs Man City Prediction
Both have made nearly identical starts to the tournament beating two inferior sides as they would have been expected to do. With both into the next round, it comes down to how much importance both place on finishing 1st in the group which is hard to tell. Finishing 1st could avoid a potential matchup with Real Madrid in the next round.
You could tell that City were trying to equal the Juve goal difference last game as they were visibly upset when they could not score more before the whistly ended their game versus Al Ain. That tells me they feel some importance here. Also, having lost to Juve in 3 straight games, they’ll want to change that. I’d lean to City winning, but both could be happy with a draw. A goal from both (BTTS -130) though seems reasonable. You could up it to BTTS & Over 2.5 for +120 too.
