LAFC vs Flamengo Head-to-Head
It’s the first game ever between these two teams.
LAFC Preview
LAFC had 61% possession and created 10 shot attempts, but put only 2 on target vs Esperance, and couldn’t score, while Esperance converted on 1 of their 5 shot attempts and won 1-0 last round.
LAFC had a tough opening draw having to meet the Conference League champions in Chelsea. They hung around but lost 2-0, though it was just 1-0 until the 79′ minute. As he always does, Denis Bouanga did his best, leading LAFC with 3 shots attempts and all 3 on target.
LAFC come in sitting 5th in MLS’s Western Conference at 7-5-4, scoring 30 and allowing 23 goals.
They came into the tournament having not lost in 10 overall matches (5-5-0). That included a huge 2-1 win over Club America to clinch the final qualification spot in this tournament. But they’ve now lost both CWC matches and are eliminated.
Across all matches this season (19) LAFC have only lost 6 times and just twice since early April, both this tournament.
They had been filling the net with goals scoring multiple goals in 10 straight before the Chelsea match. Their defense hasn’t been solid though as they’ve also given up at least a goal in 6 straight and in 11/14. In 6 of those games they’ve given up more than 1.
When you’re betting LAFC player props you have to look at Denis Bouanga. He leads the team with 8G/4A. He’s taken the most shots of any player in MLS with 71, while being 2nd in shots on target with 30. Bouanga has goals in 5/8 and 8/12 games, at least 1 shot on target in 12 straight and in his last 5 games he’s gone 9/5, 8/2, 8/2, 3/3 and 5/1 in attempts/shots on target.

Flamengo Preview
Flamengo got their their tournament started with a win over Tunisia’s Esperance, by a 2-0 score. They outshot the Tunisians 11-6 and 4-2 with shots on target while holding 69% of the possession. Giorgian de Arrascaeta and Luiz Araujo had the goals. In Game 2 they fell behind early to Chelsea, but stormed back in the second half with goals in the 62′ and 65′ from Henrique and Danilo, before Chelsea took a red card minutes later in the 68′ and Flamengo added a 3rd goal in the 83′ (Yan) to win 3-1.
Flamengo sits top of the pile in Brazil’s Serie A and have been nearly perfect at 7-3-1, scoring 24 and allowing just 4 goals. That’s 7 more goals than any other side and 3 fewer conceded as well. They’ve not won the league title since 2020, but this the most goals they’ve ever scored through the opening 11 games since 2008.
They didn’t have it all their way in the Libertadores finishing 2nd in Group C at 3-2-1, scoring 6 and allowing 3.
Their 1 loss in the Libertadores back in May is their only defeat across all comps in 15 matches with only 2 total on the season. They’ve not lost any matches in their last 9 and have now won 2-0, 1-0, 5-0, 2-0 and 3-1 in their last 5, while only failing to score once in 11 games.
Possibly the most impressive stat though is their defense that’s kept clean sheets in 7/8 straight, in 12/15 and in 13/19 overall matches.
If you’re targeting player props for Flamengo, their leading man is Uruguayan international #10 Giorgian De Arrascaeta. Coming into the CWC he had 9G/4A. The next leading scorer on the team is Pedro with 4G/2A. But this tournament, five different players all have 1 goal each.

LAFC vs Flamengo Prediction
With LAFC out and Flamengo locked into 1st in the group, it makes this harder to predict. All things being equal, I’d prefer to take Flamengo. But it’s possible they could rotate some players. Of course LAFC could as well, as they’ll need to return to MLS play shortly for a long season ahead.
With that said, let’s get creative with a same-game parlay.
