Benfica vs Bayern Munich Head-to-Head
These teams have met many times with Bayern undefeated at 6-2-0, scoring 20 goals and allowing only 5. Most recently they met in this year’s Champions League with Bayern winning 1-0 last November.
Benfica Preview
Benfica found themselves in a hole early vs Boca Juniors 2-0 down after the 27′ minute in game 1. Angel Di Maria cut the lead to 2-1 through a penalty before halftime, Boca took a red card in the 45′, Benfica took a red themselves in the 72′, Nicolas Otamendi tied it in the 84′ and then Boca took another red in the 88′. End of the day, the game ended 2-2. For all of that, the shots on target were only 3-2 Benfica.
On Matchday 2, Benfica were made to work for it, and wait out a long weather day against Auckland in Orlando, only scoring in 1st half stoppage time and through a penalty. It was only in the second half where the floodgates opened for 5 more goals and the Portuguese team won 6-0. Angel Di Maria scored 2 PKS and Leandro Barreiro scored a brace as well in the win.
The Portuguese powerhouse fell just short of the title to their Lisbon rivals finishing 2nd in the Liga in the Portuguese season. They were 25-5-4, scoring 84 goals and conceding just 28. Their 80 points put them just 2 back of 1st-placed Sporting.
Benfica has now lost just once in 15 overall matches in the Taca de Portugal Final to Sporting on May 25.
The lone trophy Benfica claimed this season was the Taca da Liga over Sporting in penalties back in January.
Player props will likely start with the two key men in Vangelis Pavlidis (19G/7A) and Kerem Aktürkoğlu (11G/9A). However, Aktürkoğlu hasn’t scored yet in the CWC. With 3 PK goals, Angel di Maria may be a better option.
Benfica has now scored in 16 straight in all comps, but have also been giving up plenty of goals having conceded in 5 straight before the Auckland game, making BTTS bets 5-1. Over 2.5 bets have also gone 15-2 on their own.

Bayern Munich Preview
Nobody had a better stat to the CWC than Bayern, as they routed amateur side Auckland City of New Zealand 10-0. They led 5-0 at the half, had 72% possession, led in hosts 31-1, shots on target 17-1, each of Coman, Olisa and Muller had a brace and Musiala had a hat-trick.
Harry Kane finally opened his account vs Boca on Matchday 2 having failed to do so vs Auckland. Bayern took a 1-0 lead, saw Boca draw level and then needed an Olise goal in the 84′ to secure victory. Bayern are 1st in the group have locked up qualification.
The German champions just wrapped up an impressive season under Vincent Kompany. They went 25-7-2 in the Bundesliga, finishing with 82 points, a whole 13 points clear of the next closest challenger, Leverkusen with 69 points.
The Bavarians also fell just 1 goal shy of the century mark scoring 99 times and only conceding 32 times in 34 games.
They were less successful cup competitions, going out in the Round of 16 in the Pokal to Leverkusen. In the Champions League they were sent packing in the quarterfinals against Inter Milan, losing 2-1 in Leg 1 and drawing 2-2 in Leg 2.
That loss to Inter is their only defeat in 14 games and just their second in their last 25 across all competitions. They’re now on a 6-3-0 run, scoring multiple goals in 9 straight, while keeping clean sheets in 5/7.

Benfica vs Bayern Munich Prediction
Bayern will likely rotate knowing they’ve advanced but have plenty of talent no matter who starts and they’ll still want to top the group. Meanwhile, Benfica can’t just hope that Boca don’t completely blow out Auckland, since that is entirely possible. They’ll need to go for something from this game.
