MLS Picks and Parlays #1

DC vs Nashville Prediction

DC will be the more rested team having not played on Wednesday. Their last 2 games were losses of 2-0 and 7-1 so maybe the break will do them well, considering they have just 1 win in 9 matches. Benteke was injured before the break and is still expected to be out.

Nashville is in flying form. They went into the break undefeated in 11 games, scoring multiple goals in 5 straight and it was more of the same on Wednesday, as they went to New England and won 3-2, highlighted by a hat trick from Sam Surridge.

Surridge has now scored in 5 straight games and a total of 9 goals in that time. His shot totals are off the charts too at 5/2, 3/2, 4/2, 3/2 and 3/2 in those games.

Mukhtar didn’t score last game but he had 5 shots and 3 on target and has had 1 or more on target in 15 straight. In 12 of those, he had multiple.

After 2-1 and 4-3 wins for DC last year, it was just 0–0 when these teams met on May 17.

  • MLS Picks Today: Surridge 1+ shot on target

Chicago vs Charlotte Prediction

Despite being at home and playing a Philly side missing numerous players, the Fire were shut out 1-0 on Wednesday and failed to create much. Despite being the 2nd-highest scoring team they’ve now been shut out in back-to-back games. But before that they had scored 24 goals in 7 games. It’s still just 3 clean sheets in 20 overall games,.

The Union are at least on a long undefeated streak. That’s not the case with Charlotte who have only 2 wins in 9 games and coughed ed up a 1-0 goal lead on Wednesday conceding twice in stoppage time to lose 2-1 in KC.

The road woes continued for Charlotte who are 2-1-8 on the road while being outscored 22-13. Home, road,, win, lose or draw, the Crown usually score with goals in 11 straight and 14/15.

Earlier this season Chicago won 4-1 in Charlotte and in 7 all-time meetings the BTTS and Over 2.5 is 5-2.

  • MLS Picks Today: BTTS & Over 2.5
  • Parlay Picks: Surridge 1+ shot on target / Chicago vs Charlotte BTTS & Over 2.5 (+110)

MLS Picks and Parlays #2

Toronto vs Portland Prediction

TFC went down 1-0 on Wednesday to New York Red Bulls but drew level and ended tied 1-1. That stopped a run of 3 straight losses but it still means they have only 3 wins in 18 overall matches this season.

TFC had a ton of key players not playing Wednesday including Bernardeschi, Osorio and Laryea. Insigne was on the bench but didn’t even get to sub in. Many or all could be out again, leaving TFC very thin.

The Timbers have some key guys likely to miss out too in Rodriguez, Antony and Crepeau.

Toronto has put the fewest shots on target in the league and against this potent Portland attack their only hope is to play amazing defense.

Portland will either be fresh or rusty having not played on Wednesday and last playing June 13. That was a 1-1 draw and they won 2-1 in each game prior so are undefeated in 3, but all 3 of those were at home, while their last 3 road games were a 1-0 loss, 1-0 loss and 0–0 draw.

  • MLS Picks Today: Portland to score

Houston vs St. Louis Prediction

The Dynamo got rolled in Minnesota Wednesday, down 3-0 and going on to lose 3-1. Their 1 goal came late in the 94’ too. To make matters worse, this is their third straight 3-1 loss and they have just 1 win in 6 games now.

Since taking over as interim coach for St. Louis on May 27, David Critchley hasn’t brought many more wins to St. Louis, but he has made their games more interesting and improved their offense. So far, the results are a 2-1 win, 2-1 loss, 3-3 draw and then a 4-2 home loss to Orland on Wednesday .

Since coming into thg league St. Louis hasn’t lost to Houston 2-2-0.

Dallas vs San Diego Prediction

Dallas hosted San Jose and lost 4-2, and their cause wasn’t helped by taking 2 red cards. That gives them only 1 win in 8 and they’ve conceded in 10/11.

San Diego went to Vancouver and backed by 4 goals from Milan Iloski in his first start and 3 assists from Anders Dreyer they played out a wild 5-3 win.

San Diego has now won 3 straight by 2-0, 4-2 and 5-3 scores and are 7-1-1 in 9.

SD is out a ton of players with 8 injured and a couple away at the Gold Cup but it doesn’t seem to matter. If I’m picking a winner, I’d take San Diego. But 1 team just scored 5 and the other allowed 4. It looks too easy, neither should be as good or as bad on Saturday.

  • MLS Picks Today: San Diego to Score
  • Parlay Picks: Portland to score / Houston vs St. Louis BTTS / San Diego to score (+126)

MLS Picks and Parlays #3

San Jose vs LA Prediction

The Cali Clasico usually is always one of the highest-scoring MLS matchups every year but it was just 1-0 for San Jose in LA just one month ago on May 28.

There had been 3+ goals in 11/12 previous matches, the BTTS was 11-1 and BTTS & Over 2.5 10-2.

Both played on Wednesday with the Quakes going to Dallas and getting a huge 4-2 win and they’ve been flying of late at 6-4-1 in their past 11, but that is a fair amount of draws and they’ve conceding in 4/5. But are also the highest scorers in all of MLS.

The Galaxy lost 2-0 in Colorado despite having 70% possession and outshooting the Rapids 13-8 and 5-4 but could create many dangerous chances. That stopped a two-game undefeated streak for the Galaxy and they still have just 1 win on the year.

LA isn’t good anywhere but on the road, they’ve been outscored 17-6 allowing multiple goals in all 5.

Both Chicho and Martinez are back from injury. Chicho scored on Wednesday and has a shot on target in 9 straight games. Martinez also scored vs Dallas and has a shot on target or more in 10/11.

On the LA side, Paintsil has had 1, 1, 2 and 2 shots on target and Pec 2, 2, 3, and 2 in their past 4 games.

Both teams are bottom 10 in shots on target against so it could make sense to include player props from both.

  • MLS Picks Today: San Jose over 1.5 + Arango 1+ shot on target (-150)

MLS Picks and Parlays #4

Seattle vs Austin Prediction

Both teams were off on Wednesday but Seattle was in action during the Club World Cup where they lost 2-1, 3-1 and 2-0. Seattle is in an awful run of form as they also lost 3-0 and 3-2 in their games leading up to the CWC. But losing to Botafogo, Atletico Madrid and PSG is hardly anything to be ashamed of.

They will be out two defenders in Nouhou and Bell due to suspension from pre-CWC.

Sounders games average 2.8 GPG . They’re 9-9 to 2.5 totals and 12-6 to Under 3.5 totals.

Austin has been a clear Under team. Their games see the fewest goals at 1.9 GPG and they’ve been the highest Under 2.5 in MLS at 14-5. They’re 18-1 to Under 3.5.

While Austin doesn’t score much, they did go into the break with back to back wins of 2-0 an 2-1. They’re also 3-4-2 so they’ve only lost twice in about 2 months.

Last year it was 0-0 and 1-0 Seattle and in 8 all-time meetings the Under 2.5 is 5-3 and Under 3.5 is 8-0.

  • MLS Picks Today: Under 3.5

Columbus vs Philadelphia Prediction

Daniel Gazdag plays his old team, when his new team, Columbus, hosts the Philly Union who are on a 13-game undefeated streak at 9-4-0 after winning 1-0 in Chicago on Wednesday from a Damiani penalty. The Union have both a top 5 offense and top 2 defense.

The Crew came out of the break with a bang scoring 3 and beating Atlanta 3-1. That’s their second straight win but also just their second win in 8 games.

Crew games have been pretty open for much of the season. They’re no longer a shut down defensive team. The BTTS is on 10-0 and 13-1 runs and even the BTTS & Over 2.5 is 11-3 in that time too.

Even with tons of players missing Philly has won back-to-back games and are too hot to bet against right now. The Crew are home and are scoring, but can’t keep the ball out of their net.

Earlier this season it was a 2-2 draw in Philly, now making the BTTS 4-1 in their past 5 meetings.

  • MLS Picks Today: Both Teams to Score
  • Parlay Picks: Seattle vs Austin Under 3.5 / Columbus vs Philadelphia both to score (+104)

MLS Picks and Parlays #5

LAFC vs Vancouver Prediction

It was 2-2 in Vancouver when they met earlier this season. This time it will be in LA for Sunday Night Soccer.

LAFC didn’t play in MLS on Wednesday, but they did play the day before in the CWC, almost beating but drawing Brazil’s Flamengo 1-1. They also lost to Chelsea 2-0 and Esperance de Tunis 1-0.

Before the CWC, few teams were hotter than LAFC though who had been undefeated in 10 at 5-5-0 and scoring multiple goals in all 10 of those games. They had though conceded in 8 of those 10 and now in 7 straight including the CWC. The big news coming out of the CWC is that the club has mutually parted ways with Olivier Giroud, who will play last game vs Vancouver this weekend before joining Lille in France.

Vancouver was home to San Diego and missing a ton of players away on international duty. They went down 4-1 but cut it to 4-2 and eventually lost 5-3.

A little more rest, playing at home, vs a shorthanded Caps team and coming off playing some of the top teams in the CWC, LAFC should have the form to win or score a couple of goals on Sunday Night Soccer. With 1+ shot on target now in 13 straight games, I’m just going to keep using the Bouanga shot prop in SGPs.

  • MLS Picks Today: LAFC over 1.5 + Bouanga shot on target (-140)
