Weekend Soccer Picks and Parlays (Jan 25-26)

It’s time for more soccer picks and predictions across the top leagues of the EPL, Bundesliga, Serie A and La Liga. I’ve got tons of games to get into here from Saturday and Sunday with 5 parlays covering 14 games.

EPL picks on Saturday.

Liverpool vs Ipswich Prediction

Liverpool have maybe cooled off just a bit and that may even me tough to say, but they’re still 1st in the EPL at 15-5-1 outscoring opponents 50-20. They’ve yet to lose at home and face 18th Ipswich.

A struggling Man City team just routed Ipswich 6-0 on the road last week so there’s no reason to think Liverpool at Anfield can’t do something similar. 

The only hesitation would be if this game gets lost in the shuffle between an UCL match this week vs Lille (2-1 win) and another next week vs PSV.

If focused, Liverpool should win by 2-3 easily and Salah could be included to score in a SGP.

Southampton vs Newcastle Prediction

20th Southampton, 1-3-18 hosts 6th Newcastle, 11-5-6.

Southampton have been poor all season and have been outscored by a whopping 50-15 margin, -35, easily the worst differential, with Leicester next at -25.

In all comps their only win in 14 came in the FA Cup vs Swansea. Their past 2 games have been 3-1 and 3-2 losses and they’ve conceded multiple goals in 4/5 and in 9 of those 14. 

The Magpies have been flying, winners of 9 straight where they outscored opponents 26-3, keeping clean sheets in 6/9. That was until they got smacked last week losing at home 4-1 to Bournemouth. As bad as that score looks, it was only 2-1 until 2 late stopped time goals. 

There’s no better team for Newcastle to regroup against than the Saints. Newcastle won 1-0 earlier this season, have won 6 straight in the matchup, are undefeated in 8 and have lost just once in 15 meetings with Southampton. And while a 1-0 win with all the stats in the Saints favor back in August looks close, Newcastle took a red card in the in the 28’ minute and still scored after and hung on for the win. 

I’d expect Newcastle to win but I don’t want to be betting a big win on the road and with Southampton having recently given Man U and Forest some pushback so it’s just Newcastle on the moneyline.

Man City vs Chelsea Prediction

Man City, 5th, hosts Chelsea 4th, just 2 points behind the Blues in the EPL match of the weekend. 

In August City won 2–0. Last year they drew both EPL games 4-4 and 1-1 and City won 1-0 in the FA Cup. City has owned this matchup for the past few years being undefeated in 10 in all comps. 

With no Conference League action this week Chelsea will be more rested having last played Monday, beating Wolves 3-1, making them undefeated in 4 in all comps, with only 2 losses in 18.

Man City played Wednesday in the UCL and despite taking a 2-0 lead in Paris against PSG, it didn’t last long and they went on to lose 4-2 and could possibly not even advance to the next round. 

Honestly it went exactly as I thought. City have improved to start 2025, but mostly against weaker teams. You can always count on them to score but the defense gets exposed week in and week out and even when they’re winning, also giving up a 2-0 lead vs Brentford last week to draw 2-2. 

While City could welcome Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush to the lineup, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer has been dealing with an ankle injury but played 84 minutes vs Wolves. 

Both are among the teams that see the most goals in their games with City averaging 3.3 (4th-most) and Chelsea 3.2 (tied-6th-most).

This has to be BTTS & Over 2.5 or simply BTTS.

Saturday soccer picks in the Bundesliga.

Mainz vs Stuttgart Prediction

This matchup saw 6 goals earlier this season in a 3-3 draw. And with other past scores of 3-1, 3-1 and 4-1, goals have been on the cards of late. So have bets on Stuttgart as they’re undefeated, 6-3-0 in the past 9.

Back to this season. Stuttgart is 4th and has won all 4 games to start 2025. 3-1 over Slovan Brastislava this week in the UCL and 4-0, 2-1 and 1-0 in 3 league games. In their last 10 they’re 8-1-1.

Fellow top-6 side Mainz are 6th. They started 2025 strong winning 3-1 and 2-0 but have since lost 2 road games 1-0 and 2-1. Overall though they’ve won 6/9 and will be the more rested team.

I have some concern with Mainz scoring givne leader scorer Jonathan Burkardt is out injured but they’re home, more rested and have 4 others with multiple goals this season.

Augsburg vs Heidenheim Prediction

12th Augsburg hosts 16th Heidenheim in the Bundesliga table.

Augsburg has been streaky. It was just 1 loss in 8, then 3 straight losses and then back-to-back 2-0 road wins the past two games. 

For Heidenheim, it’s just 1 win in 12 and that 1 win was is their only clean sheet in that time, while also giving up multiple goals in 10/12.

Augsburg won 5-2 and 1-0 last year but it was a thumping 4-0 Heidenheim win back in September. This time Augsburg should win and certainly will score.

RB Leipzig vs Bayer Leverkusen Prediction

Last year Leverkusen won 3-2 both games and it was another 3-2 this year, but with RBL winning 3-2 in August.

Leverkusen was flying winning 11 straight games outscoring opponents 30-8. That streak came to an end on Tuesday, losing in the final moments 2-1 to Atletico Madrid in the UCL.

Leipzig got a UCL win, beating Sporting 2-1 on Tuesday. Their form is all over at 3-1-3 and their games have been full of goals with scorelines of 2-1, 3-3, 2-1, 4-2, 5-1, 2-1 and 3-2.

Saturday in La Liga and Serie A.

Real Valladolid vs Real Madrid Prediction

Bottom of the table Valladolid hosts top-of-the-pack Real Madrid. While Valladolid have just 14 goals scored all season in La Liga, Madrid have scored 14 goals in just their past 3 games. After losing to Barca 5-2 in the Super Cup it’s been a 5-2 win over Celta (ET in the Copa del Rey), 4-1 win over Las Palmas and a 5-1 win in the UCL this week over Salzburg. It’s just 1 loss in 12 and multiple goals scored in each of those 12 plus 3+ in 9/12 in regulation.

Valladolid did spring a home upset win over Betis two games back but then lost 2-1 to Espanyol last week and have given up multiple goals in 3/4 and 7/9.

This lines up as another likely Madrid win. They won 3-0 in August and in recent years have also won 6-0, 2-0, 1-0, 1-0 and 1-0.

Atletico Madrid vs Villarreal Prediction

It’s a top-5 matchup between 2nd Atletico Madrid and 5th Villarreal. 

This season Villarreal’s games have seen the 2nd-most GPG at 3.5. And while Atleti is only 12-8 yo Over 1.5, Villarreal has seen 2+ goals in 19/20. 

The Yellow Submarine has only won twice in 9 but will be more rested being off this week. Seeing 11-goal man Ayoze Perez return from injury last game is a big boost too 

Atletico could be tired after a Tuesday UCL match that saw them go down a man early but still fight back to win 2-1 over Bayer Leverkusen. Last weekend they shockingly lost 1-0 to Leganes despite a ton of chances, making that their only loss in 17 games. There have been four 1-0 results in their past 7 but then when these two meet up it’s always goals. 

It was 2-2 in August and Atleti won 3-1 and 2-1 last year. Other scores have been 2-2, 2-0, 2-2, 2-2 and 2-0. Probably BTTS or simply Over 1.5.

Como vs Atalanta United Prediction

Como is up to 13th after last week’s 4-1 win over Udinese. They’ll host 3rd place Atalanta. 

Como has wins in 3/6 and only 2 losses in 8 but then only 3 wins in 15. But then have scored in 7/8, but also conceded in 20/22 overall matches this season.

So this could be a good BTTS bet, although you’d expect Atalanta to win. But, La Dea had gone 5 games without a win until smacking Sturm Graz 5-0 in the Champions League this week. Obviously Sturm Graz are not a top side, but then neither is Como. Retegui has scored in 3 straight games so could be a good scoring bet.

Serie A and Bundesliga picks for Sunday.

Lecce vs Inter Milan Prediction

Inter won 2-0 back in August and have also won 4-0, 2-0, 2-0 and 2-1 in other recent meetings. They’ve not lost to Lecce in 7 meetings. The last Lecce win was in 2012, though, they obviously don’t always play in the same divisions. 

Lecce are 17th in Serie A and have 5 wins and those wins have come vs Empoli, Monza, Venezia, Verona and Cagliari — the 3 teams in the regulation zone below them and teams ranked 15th and 14th.

This is too big a step up vs Inter who are 3 points out of 1st at 14-5-1. Inter’s only 2 losses in all comps in 24 games have been vs Leverkusen in the UCL and AC Milan in the Super Cup. This game does fall in between two UCL games though. Inter beat Sparta Praha 1-0 on Wednesday and will meet Monaco next Wednesday.

Lazio vs Fiorentina Prediction

4th Lazio is hosting 6th Fiorentina. It looks like a close match but Fiorentina have been slumping for some time. A 1-1 draw last week extends their winless run to 7 games in all comps (0-3-4) where they’ve been outscored 12-6.

Lazio will be the more tired team having played Thursday in the UEL vs Real Sociedad where they coasted to a 3-1 win, though they were up 3-0 at half and played most of the match up a man, so didn’t have to push too hard. 

Their overall form isn’t great with just 2 wins in 5 after last week’s 3-0 win over Verona but it’s only 3 losses in 19 and they’ve only not scored 3 times in those 19 and 4 times in 29 all season.

When they last played Fiorentina won 2-1 in Florence in September. Both won at home last year, Lazio 1-0 and Fiorentina 2-1. The 2 most recent Fiorentina wins snapped a run of 5 games undefeated for Lazio in this matchup. Lazio has scored in 7 straight and in 22/23 past matches between these teams.

Hoffenheim vs Eintracht Frankfurt Prediction

Struggling 15th-place Hoffenheim are hosting the surging Frankfurt who are now 3rd. 

Both played on Thursday in the UEL. Hoffenheim fell behind 2-0 and 3-1 to Tottenham and eventually lost 3-2.

Frankfurt hosted Hungarian outfit Ferencvarosi and won 2-0 with goals from Uzun and Ekitike. 

Overall Hoffenheim has only 1 win in 11 and it was vs Holstein Kiel. In 12 games they’ve only shut out 1 team, FCSB in the UEL.

Overall Frankfurt are flying in 2025 with wins of 1-0, 4-1, 2-0 and 2-0 and have now at least scored in 25 of their past 26 matches. 

Historically you’ve been able to close your eyes and bet the BTTS when these teams meet. In fact BTTS & Over 2.5 is on a perfect 10-0 run. Frankfurt won 3-1 back in August and won both games last season 3-1 too. Other scores have been 3-1, 4-2, 2-2, 3-2, 3-1, 2-1 and 2-1. The BTTS has hit in 14/15.

EPL picks for Sunday.

Crystal Palace vs Brentford Prediction

This is a local derby between 12th Palace and 11th Brentford separated by 1 point. 

Palace aren’t high scorers with just 25 in 22 games but they’re in good form with wins of 1-0, 2-0, 2-0, being undefeated in 6, only 2 losses in 13 and at least 1 goal scored in 12/13. Jean-Philippe Mateta score both vs West Ham last weekend and has scored 4 of their last 5 EPL goals.

Brentford has held Liverpool to 0-0 until 2 late Darwin Nunez goals gave the Reds a 2-0 win last week. They drew City 2-0 the game prior and Bees’ games are rarely dull. But they’re rarely producing wins either. A 5-0 win over Southampton is their only win in 9 and only 2nd clean sheet in 12.

Brentford won 2-1 earlier and other recent scores have bene 3-1, 1-1, 1-1 and 1-1. The BTTS is now 5-0 and in the 7 historical meetings the draw has cashed 5 times.

Fulham vs Manchester United Prediction

Fulham enters with the upper hand here being 10th with 33 points, while Man U is 13th with 26. 

If you’re picking a straight up winner, it would have to be Fulham. They have just 1 loss in 11 and 2 in 15. They’re piling up the goals with multiple in 6 straight and at least 1 in 23/24. But then they’ve drawn in 5/9 and conceded in 10/12.

So the BTTS checks out as a solid bet in Fulham games. And it also checks out in Man U games.

It’s hit in 5 straight with scores of 2-2, 1-1, 3-1, 3-1 and then 2-1 in the UEL on Thursday after being up 1-0 on Rangers, only see them tie it late and then Bruno Fernandes scoring moments later to claim a nervy win. 

It’s only 1 loss in 5, but just 2 regulation wins in 9 and they’ve conceded in 13 straight. 

Man U only won 1-0 in Manchester in August but this time I see goals from both.
